Opera saves singer from the lions

Classical/ Nature/ Opera/ Singing

You may have heard the tale of Daniel and the lion’s den.  Well, what happens when a lone female is confronted by a mountain lion while out hiking in Placerville?  Kyra Kopestonsky was stalked by the furry beast for half an hour.  It kept edging closer and closer to her, and at one point was no more than 8 feet away.  Scared and alone, Kyra started to sing opera.  Apparently the mountain lion put it’s ears down and backed away, allowing Kyra to escape to safety.  I am guessing that mountain lions don’t get to hear a lot of opera in the wild!

What is ‘Singer’s Voice’ about?

General

As a professional singer and singing teacher, I enjoy researching the voice, music, education and everything in between.  I have been able to indulge my curiosity during my undergraduate and postgraduate music degrees, which have allowed me to access all kinds off opportunities and resources.  On a day to day basis I come across all sorts of articles, books, manuscripts, courses, auditions, opportunities, experts, videos, music tracks and everything in between.  I wanted to curate and archive these discoveries for future reference, but also to allow other professional (or aspiring professional) singers and teachers to benefit from the wealth of information that surrounds wonderful medium of singing.  If you sing for a hobby, then you are also welcome to browse the articles and take part in the discussions.  I enjoy reading about a person’s vocal journey, and hope to benefit from their experiences.

I hope that you will find something interesting and useful to your studies.  If you have any requests for topics, or want to draw my attention to something then feel free to leave a comment or use the ‘Question’ or ‘Contact Form’.
